How the inventory works

The dates you see are last observation dates. Nobody guarantees a book is still there: someone saw it that day, that is all we know. The older the observation, the more discreetly the book is shown, until it leaves the list.

The inventory lives on your gestures: a photo of the shelves updates it for everyone, "I couldn't find it" reports an absence, "I took this book" records it immediately. Photos are read by automatic identification; photograph the shelves, not people.

A favourite is a book you drop off and introduce to others: one or several photos of its cover, and an introduction — a few written words, or a voice message. The book is highlighted in the list, and your introduction is published there, without your name. Say what you would accept seeing displayed: like photos, these words or this recording are moderated afterwards and can be taken down.

Points

Points arrive after identification of the photos, never on a promise. The scale belongs to each town, which may adjust it: the one shown on your box page, under "How to earn rewards", is authoritative — it is the only up-to-date list, and every gesture states what it is worth and how often it is rewarded.

Two principles never change, whatever the town. A given gesture is only rewarded a limited number of times: photographing the same box ten times in a day earns once. And rewards follow proof: taking a book is only credited if you photographed it, never on a bare claim.

Your position at upload time is a trust signal, never a barrier: without it, points go through a confirmed email.

Gifts at partner shops

Each partner merchant defines their rewards and their cost in points (for example: 5 points = 1 cookie). Redeeming sends a 4-character code by email — one code at a time, valid 10 days, to be said out loud in the shop. Gifts are always in kind: never a discount on the price of a new book (French Lang law).

Your town's questions

From your second visit onwards, the town hall may ask you a few questions on a box's page — age group, where you live, how often you pass by. Answering is optional, earns no points and unlocks nothing. You can put it off, or turn it off for good. What is collected is set out on the Privacy page.

What is not allowed

Fake drop-offs, photos taken anywhere other than in front of the box, re-depositing a book you just took to earn points again, and any inappropriate content in photos or comments. Photos and comments are moderated after publication; abuse lowers the account's trust score and can block points — never browsing.
